Toronto is blessed when artists like Skream pay a good ol’ open to close set in a city that thrives on bass music in its nightlife. Platform, WOA, Coda, and Embrace Presents a night of techno, with no openers or closers; just the headliner. Skream hosts his own show with Benga on Rinse FM showing listeners the hottest current tunes in the UK, and he’s opened for artists like Pete Tong, Claude Von Stroke, Jamie Jones, Artwork, Eats Everything, and Destructo.
The last time he came through Toronto was on Centre Island at Bestival on the Bollywood (Tech) stage, and his set was really something else. The stage fit perfectly with his underground jungle vibe, and his performance brought out the most genuine demographic in the scene. I was surrounded by people who just wanted to dance despite how slow building and progressive the music was.
